The Challenge

We were tasked with developing a new website for video content to be showcased.

At the point at which they became a client of ours, TWN Group had a very slow website that visually was not up to par with what they wanted. The site would sometimes load incorrectly and distort the features on the page. As well as being poorly designed. Things had to change.

The new website had to be high quality. It had to put the video content first by having the option for the videos to be viewable in the hero section of the site. This was all to be done without compromising site speed and increasing loading times.

We also explored ideas around the functionality of the site. Including watch later tabs and cinema mode for immersive viewing. This all had to fit in with the new dark-themed brand.

The Roadmap

Here's how we organised and executed the project

1. First Consultation
Discovery meeting to learn more about the business and establish the goals and objectives the business owners have for digital marketing.
2. Planning & Design Strategy
Planning of site structure and design began.
3. Proposal & Contract Agreed
We drafted a proposal for the client that would outline the workflow, milestones for implementation, frequency of reporting, costs, etc. We also drew up a contract for the client. Once all agreed to, we began our work.
4. Further Research & Website Brief
We create a website brief for our clients to fill out. This not only gives the client some time to clearly express their ambitions for the site to us. But also allows us to gather all of the information that would be helpful in the development of the site. Thereby ensuring we can get the project done in a timely manner.
5. Website Development
Based on our initial consultation from the client and the website brief, we were able to crack on with the site.

We fully developed the site with all functionality and had used some of the content the client had already made from their YouTube Channel, to show the layout and design of the homepage, categories page, search page and individual video viewing page.
6. Feedback & Iteration
Once the client had a look over the initial design, the feedback was very positive. They loved that it had a watch later function. They also loved that the most recent video was automatically uploaded at the top of the homepage.

They did have requests as to how the content could be structured and we worked together with them to alter the layout of the page. Once they were happy we could start to optimise.
7. SEO Optimisation
SEO Optimisation for this site was especially crucial, because of the nature of the website. It was a must that the site be mobile friendly. Also because the content was expected to be viewed in multiple countries, the site speed had to be especially quick.
8. Google Analytics Set Up
We set up google analytics so that the client could track the data coming from the site moving forward. Their main interest was the countries that the content reached and how users responded to the types of content being posted.
9. Website Testing & Optimisation
As the purpose of the site is to view video content. It required frequent refining and updating to make it as quick as possible. We agreed with the client that it would be best to have the content viewed on the site via YouTube servers as this would significantly increase the site speed and free up space for other content.
10. Website Launch
A final viewing of the site was done with the client to get their final approval.
Now complete, optimised and tested. The website launched and was an instant hit not only with the viewers, but also the TWN Group team.
